Livestreaming

Unless you’ve been living in a cave or under a rock for the past ten years, you know and understand the importance of livestreaming. Even before the pandemic hit in 2020, simulcasting of live events was commonplace. But when everything shut down in that dreadful year, it became a lifeline as so many events went virtual. And even when lockdowns began to lift, “hybrid” events were very popular and even crucial as many people were (and still are) hesitant to attend large events in person.

Your event doesn’t need to be “live”! One thing we’ve come to specialize in is pre-recorded livestreams; wherein your content is all pre-recorded and then streamed at the appropriate time. Often these pre-recorded livestreams are combined with live elements such as polling or zoom webinars with the speakers. We only point this out to make you aware of the many options you have when it comes to utilizing livestreaming as a powerful and effective way to reach your target audience.

Clean Slate Digital Media uses Vimeo for our livestreaming services and can stream from just about anywhere. While a hardline connection to the internet is preferred, as long as it provides suitable upload speed, a Wi-Fi signal will in most cases be more than sufficient. We’ve even streamed off a cellular signal when absolutely necessary, though it’s not recommended anywhere that has spotty cel service! 

Clean Slate uses Black Magic ATEM Mini’s for switching and streaming. Our ATEM Extremes can handle up to 8 sources and record directly to a hard drive attached to the switcher and, when a laptop is attached, record to yet another hard drive. Additionally, our Vimeo streaming provider records all livestreams on their cloud as well and the livestream itself is archived quickly for anyone who couldn’t view the event as it happened. Included with our livestreaming service is one year of hosting for the livestream archive and any videos edited from it on the Vimeo cloud with total control over privacy; you can choose to make it public through Vimeo’s website or make it so that the video can only be embedded on websites of your choosing. You can even opt to make the video downloadable or password protected. Close captioning is also available for livestream archives.

We can also provide you with an on-site copy of the livestream should you so wish. While SD cards and thumb drives will do, we recommend a USB hard drive for safe storage of the video files.
